SAN CARLOS, CA – May 10, 2011 – The numbers prove it - residents in the RethinkWaste service area are taking advantage of the new CartSMART weekly Recycle, Compost and Garbage collection services. Residential single stream recycling tonnages are up by 33.5% during the first quarter of 2011 in comparison to the same period last year. Compost has increased by 28.9% for the same period, and just as significantly, garbage has decreased by 19.8%.

SAN CARLOS, CA – March 31, 2011 – RethinkWaste is excited to announce the grand re-opening of its Public Recycling Drop-Off and Buy-Back Center at the Shoreway Environmental Center in San Carlos on April 4, 2011. The Public Recycling Center (PRC) consists of a free drop-off area for such items as cardboard, electronics, household cooking oil, sharps, and fluorescent tubes, among others, and a buy-back area for California Redemption Value (CRV) bottles and cans. The PRC has been undergoing significant changes and a move to its permanent location at 333 Shoreway Road, accessible via Gate 1, to provide the general public a safer and more convenient experience.

Record volumes of material were collected by Recology during the company's initial days of service in San Mateo County, Calif., through a new contract.

This morning marks the beginning of Recology San Mateo County's phased delivery of 276,000 new Recycle, Compost and Garbage carts to residents of the South Bayside Waste Management Authority (SBWMA) service area (i.e., Atherton, Belmont, Burlingame, East Palo Alto, Foster City, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, Redwood City, San Carlos, San Mateo, Unincorporated San Mateo County and the West Bay Sanitary District) with deliveries first starting in the City of San Mateo. Residents living in single-family homes in the RethinkWaste service have until this Friday, July 9, to change their Garbage Cart size if they would like to do so. Residents in most of RethinkWaste's service area received a Garbage Cart Selection Brochure over a three-week period in June letting them know what their current garbage service level is and what size Garbage Cart had been assigned to them based on that service level.
