Optional Compost Program

Don't send your food scraps and landscape material to the landfill; compost them instead! We encourage you to look into starting a composting program. Individual residents of multi-family dwellings are not able to sign up for composting service on their own, so talk to your property manager or HOA and see if they would like to utilize this service for an additional fee. On average, these services are offered at a reduced rate compared to garbage service. Your complex may be able to reduce its garbage service fees if a successful composting program is in place. Did You Know?

More than six million tons of food products are dumped every year. Food is the largest single source of waste in California, making up 15.5 percent of the waste stream.*

That waste decomposes and creates methane gas, which is 23 times more potent than carbon dioxide and is directly attributed to climate change. Composting is nature's way of recycling organic waste into a new soil amendment rich in nutrients that can be used for organic farming, vineyards and highway erosion and control projects.
